perf(vcs): a new machine starts with recent history A busy project gains thousands of versions a day, and a new machine fetched every one before its first workspace (21,000 versions: 5.1 s). Now it keeps the last 1,000, records where its history starts, and fetches older versions only when a command asks: one version for vcs log <n>, diff or restore (0.4 s), as many as a longer log shows, all of it for matching git commits in vcs import --change. First workspace of that project: 1.6 s. vcs workspaces clean names what it removed briefly. The hosted suite covers a new machine keeping 3 versions (VCS_HISTORY_KEPT).
